On this Day, June 3 1918 - Red Cross gives Sweaters to Trainees

Six Henry County men were to leave for basic training in Charlottesville, VA on this day. The local Red Cross chapter donated a sweater each to these future soldiers, as each boy had a requirement to bring at least one with them. T. G. Burch presented the sweaters at the station.

The chapter also followed up with 41 more trainees on May 25th, giving baskets of fruits, cigars, and cigarettes.
